MCCF Festivals accompanying & participating Coaches & Managers are expected to:
- Taking on a role as a participating Coach, you commit to ensuring all players have a positive experience in a safe environment and you adhere to the Safeguarding Policy Statement. Safeguarding – Safeguarding & Welfare – of your respective Cricket establishment’s Safeguarding Team
- Set a good and positive example each time you represent your participating team, in line with the ECB Values; Inclusive, Inspiring, Collaborative, Innovative, Excellence
- Show respect for the game and to everyone involved in it. Accept victory and defeat with dignity and grace in line with MCC Spirit of Cricket (Available here https://www.lords.org/mcc/the-lawsof-cricket/preamble-to-the-laws-spirit-of-cricket)
- There should be no consumption of alcohol either before, during, or after a training session or match day.
- Shouting on to the pitch, with instructions to players/team is not acceptable at any time.
- You agree to enforce disciplinary measures for players where appropriate.
- You are responsible for the wellbeing of ALL players – your representatives and (opposition) whilst present as Lead Coach of any match or session.
- No coaches are to transport any players to or from games- if there has been an emergency and the player requires medical assistance please seek permission from their parents, where possible.
- Coaches and Managers should refer to the ECB photo/video guideline document and all other Festival policies; Safeguarding – Policies & Codes of Conduct.
- Communicate effectively with identified Pathway staff, responding in good time and in a positive manner, opportunities for feedback will always be welcomed, in a constructive way.
- In line with the Lead Coach role description shared with you previously, if you are a Pathway lead coach, you should not be offering private coaching or one to ones to children within the age group squad you are involved with. This is to safeguard you from being put into any position regarding allegations of unconscious bias to those players/parents you are receiving payment from for coaching that takes place separately to training under your County’s/participating team’s umbrella.
- Your Coaches and managers should wear appropriate clothing and footwear at training events – this is also for identity/security.
Disciplinary Procedure
Any breach of this code may lead to the coach being warned as to their future conduct or in more serious cases being suspended or barred from spectating in our MCCF Festivals activities.
In the first instance, a verbal warning as to future conduct will be issued by the MCCF Cricket Festivals. Further breaches may result in a written and final warning being issued by MCCF.
Should a coach wish to appeal against any disciplinary measures issued to them (as detailed above) they should, in the first instance, formally contact your specific Teams/Board/Club, who will investigate and reply in writing with a full response.
Any decision of the MCCF will be sent in writing and will be full and final.
